Threads Unseen  is a stunning sculpture exploring the intricate connections between cultural heritage, identity, and shared human experiences. This work invites reflection on the unseen forces that shape our lives and celebrates individuality while honouring tradition. I’m pleased to share Threads Unseen , a new sculpture that represents a deeply personal exploration of these themes. This piece, a fragment of my larger work Tied in Tradition: Threads Unseen , focuses on the face, neck, and hairline of a male figure of Chinese heritage. Through intricate detail and an expressive gaze, Threads Unseen  invites reflection on how shared histories, traditions, and values influence our identities and connect us across time and place. By isolating this fragment, I aimed to highlight the unique journeys we each take while remaining rooted in shared cultural foundations. This sculpture is a celebration of resilience, individuality, and connection. I hope it inspires you to consider how inherited stories shape your own path and how tradition evolves to meet the future. In the article by Desmond Wilcox, titled They Call Her 'Holy Roller': Rosetta Flies in to Rock , published in the Daily Mirror  on November 22, 1957, Sister Rosetta Tharpe states, "All this new stuff they call rock ‘n’ roll, why, I’ve been playing that for years now." I am excited to unveil my latest sculpture, "Strings of Fire,"  dedicated to the legendary Sister Rosetta Tharpe, a pioneering figure in music. Known as the "Godmother of Rock and Roll," Tharpe's remarkable talent and innovative spirit have profoundly impacted the industry, and this piece celebrates her legacy. A Musical Pioneer Sister Rosetta Tharpe was a trailblazer, blending gospel, blues, and rock and roll while breaking racial and gender barriers. Her electrifying performances and soulful voice captivated audiences and influenced countless artists. With "Strings of Fire,"  I aim to capture the energy and essence of her powerful presence. The Sculpture This sculpture depicts Tharpe mid-performance, her electric guitar in hand, radiating passion and confidence. The flowing movement of her dress echoes the rhythm of her music, and the intricate details of her hands highlight her mastery of each note, evoking the intensity of her performances. A Lasting Influence "Strings of Fire"  embodies Tharpe’s trailblazing spirit and the barriers she broke throughout her career. Her influence continues to inspire new generations of artists to push boundaries and express themselves authentically.
