Humbled that 'Pathfinder of Liberty' was selected for the Chianciano Biennale; 'Spirito Italiano' for the International Open Art Competition and 'Shakti: Spirit of the Tigress ' for Teravarna Art Gallery. 'Pathfinder of Liberty' is a portrait sculpture of the African American Harriet Tubman, modelled in clay from archival photographs. The sculpture honours Tubman's courage, resilience and lifelong commitment to freedom. Having escaped from slavery, she went on to guide many others to freedom through the Underground Railroad. In later life, she founded a home providing care, dignity and shelter for elderly African Americans. 'Spirito Italiano' is a portrait modelled from life in clay. A slight tilt of the head, a relaxed posture and an understated smile suggest openness and self-assurance without prescribing a fixed narrative. Rather than presenting an idealised representation, the work invites viewers to consider how identity is communicated through presence, expression and lived experience, encouraging personal interpretation shaped by their own cultural perspectives. 'Shakti: Spirit of the Tigress' emerges from shadow with a watchful presence, embodying the divine feminine energy that is both nurturing and fiercely protective. Sculpted in clay from archival photographs and wildlife reference material, the tigress strides across a symbolic landscape of reclaimed wood, where a flowing blue resin stream runs between granite rocks arranged in a circular formation. Presented against a black ground, her presence becomes more enigmatic, revealing how shifting light transforms the sculpture's character and emotional resonance. The work asks questions about the balance between power and vulnerability, reminding us of both the enduring strength and the fragility of the natural world.
