Threads Unseen

Threads Unseen is an intimate portrait exploring cultural heritage, identity and the connections that shape our sense of self.

Originally conceived as part of the larger work Tied in Tradition: Threads Unseen, the sculpture focuses on the face, neck and hairline of a male figure of Chinese heritage. The closely observed expression and gaze create a contemplative presence, drawing attention to both what is visible and what remains unseen in the formation of identity.

The portrait reflects on the individual paths people take while remaining connected to cultural traditions and inherited experience. Its title evokes the invisible threads that connect generations, cultures and personal stories, while recognising that identity continues to evolve over time.

Mounted on a polished wooden base, Threads Unseen can be experienced as a work in its own right or in dialogue with Tied in Tradition.
